About 7-String Standard tuning
A 7-string in standard tuning is a normal guitar plus a low B — everything you already play, with a fifth of extra range underneath. Popularized by Steve Vai's Universe and weaponized by Korn a few years later, it's now the standard tool of progressive metal.
Tune the top six strings exactly as in E standard, then bring the seventh string to B1. If the tuner reads the low B an octave off, pluck it more gently over the neck pickup area — the cleaner attack helps any tuner track a 31 Hz-fundamental string.
